ECWCS GEN III Level 2 thermal underwear was developed specifically for the U.S. Army.
Maximizing moisture wicking away from the body and retaining heat, the ECWCS Gen III Level 2 basic thermal jacket, which is part of the second layer, in the ECWCS GEN III layered clothing system concept.
The ECWCS Gen III system, which consists of 7 layers of clothes with the total weight of just under 6 kg, was successfully tested by the US Army 10th Mountain Infantry Division in the combat operations in Afghanistan. And since 2007 it is the standard of military clothing of the US Army, allowing soldiers to seamlessly adapt to operational and tactical tasks in different climatic zones at temperatures from -40 to +16C.
ECWCS Gen III Level 2 thermal underwear can be used as a base garment layer in cool weather not only in conditions of intense physical activity, but also in static missions. This versatility is made possible through the use of Polartec® Power Grid® - an ultra-breathable two-piece material. With its patented waffle mesh structure it efficiently transfers moisture away from the body through the skin contact points and improves thermoregulation by transferring excessive heat through air ducts. The quick-drying mesh structure does not lose its insulating qualities when compressed, this material is less bulky and lighter than other Polartec® base materials. In addition, the Polartec® Power Grid® fabric is treated with Odor Resistant® antibacterial protection, which prevents unpleasant odor from the clothes. The material is completely hypoallergenic.
Design features of ECWCS Gen III Level 2 Polartec® Power Grid® basic thermal underwear:
● High stand-up collar with zipper to mid-chest protects against harsh weather and mechanical abuse, and allows you to control excess heat and moisture output;
● Reinforced flat seams do not cause discomfort when worn;
● Additional thumb hole on sleeves makes it easy to put on additional layers of clothing (e.g. ECWCS Gen 3 Level 3) and protects the back of the hand from wind and cold;
● Long raglan back protects the lower back from the cold and wind when bending over, squatting, etc;
● Used as a single garment in cool weather or in combination with other layers of the ECWCS Gen3 system in frosty weather;
● Can be washed in a washing machine, does not lose its properties and shape, even after repeated washings, does not roll up and not muss.
Original ECWCS Gen III Level 2 thermal underwear performs its functions not only as part of the army outfit, but is also ideal for use in fishing, hunting, climbing or hiking.
