The SILVA Expedition compass comes with two brand new functional additions: a tilt map and a scale lanyard.
Features of Silva Expedition:
● Comfortable Dryflex™ housing; Silicone rubber feet for precise map handling;
● Removable safety lanyard;
● Light markings for night work;
● Magnifying lens;
● Clinometer for measuring the angle of inclination, scales for measuring the map in mm or inches;
● Built-in magnetic declination controls (including permanent local adjustment);
● Can perform measurements at a scale of 1:40,000.
The slope map is great for both identifying hazards in the mountains and determining how difficult your journey will be. By knowing the slope, you can also estimate any extra distance you need to walk over an uneven area.
The lanyard has two scales: 1:25 and 1:50, which makes it easier to measure the distance of your movement. Due to the softness and flexibility of the lanyard, it is easy to place it directly on the map. The updated screen contains a clearer arrow as well as a more modern font.
